Ride with Respect
To make riding MARTA a safe, enjoyable experience, all riders must stick to some guidelines. MARTA belongs to all of us. Let’s treat the system and each other with respect.
Respect the Ride
- No eating or drinking on
buses and trains. All food and drink must be stored in resealable
containers.
- No littering. Please throw
trash away at your destination.
- No loitering. You must
exit buses and trains once they have completed their routes.
- No panhandling or
solicitation.
- Place luggage on the floor
or in a designated area.
- Leave special seating
available for elderly persons and people with disabilities.
- No animals on board other
than guide or service animals, or small animals in pet carriers.
- Do not enter operator cabs on buses or trains.
- No urinating, defecating, or spitting.
Respect Each Other
- No verbal or physical assault of MARTA employees or fellow riders.
- Refrain from using profanity and talking loudly.
- Use headphones or earbuds for music or phone conversations.
- No smoking, vaping, or use of e-cigarettes.
- No skateboarding,
rollerblading, skating, or riding scooters.
- Basic civility to one
another is expected. No disorderly conduct or threatening behavior.
Respect the Law
- Fare evasion is a crime.
Do not skip faregates or payment terminals or use or sell counterfeit
fare.
- Do not point a gun at
another person or discharge a gun on MARTA property without legal
justification.
- Weapons prohibited by
federal law are not allowed on MARTA property, even with a license.
- Absolutely no trespassing. Trespassing in unauthorized areas can
result in serious injury or death.
- Hazardous materials such as explosives and acids are prohibited.
- No damaging or stealing MARTA property or the property of others.
Violators face
suspension or expulsion from the system, fines, and jail time based on the
severity of the conduct. Please respect MARTA, our employees, and each other
when riding.
